One of main characteristic of Sonny Touch’s sound, is the fact that he merges motley music elements. "Leave Space For The Little Animals" is a mixture of rock, blues, New Orleans, Hawaiian tunes and African percussions, all beautifully combined into a playful and surreal mood. When asked to design the LP cover for “Leave space for the little animals” we came up with this idea; of creating a synthesis made out of paper cutouts. The concept behind this, was to use handmade illustrations of different elements that depict Sonny’s music. We invented a child-like, quirky, and edgy combination, and by adding screen-printed textures, we pursued to encompass more depth and an adventurous feeling. In order to balance out the playfulness of the front cover, we have chosen to use clean typography at the back cover. Having developed the album’s cover, for the video of “Red Socks” we decided to give life to those numerous creatures created through the cutouts. The story is a small narrative of the adventures of “doggie” - the cover's main illustration character. All cover illustrations were used as part of the scenery. By abstracting them into kaleidoscopic shapes we created various fun and dynamic images.
